The Policy Committee of the NLCFPC is tasked with investigating all local, state, and federal policies currently being proposed or altered, and developing suggestions as to how the NLCFPC should engage with those policies. Suggested actions can range from crafting a formal letter to politicians to developing informational briefs for local community members about the impacts of new or proposed policies. The Policy Committee also responses to immediate requests from external groups to have the NLCFPC sign petitions for or against proposed policies. Some of the current policies that the Committee is research are:
- Healthy Hunger Free Kids Act
- DOD and USDA Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Programs
- Health Corner Store Initiatives
